Fix for the following tracker bug on SourceForge: [ #490762 ] WebFeeder crashes (NullPointer) This bug occured when the directory for the webfeeder to place alerts in didn't exist. Unlike the rest of the block of code, this section didn't do any checks to make sure it existed before trying to get a listing of it. This resulted in a null pointer exception. The fix is simple - a check is done to make sure it's a directory before getting a listing. If it doesn't exist a warning is logged to alert the user that there is a problem. It is common for this directory not to exist if no alerts have yet be generated.
Some minor javadoc tweaks. The first sentence is now more obvious to the javadoc parser.
Major change in the java package naming. This has been held off for some time now, but it really needed doing. The future packaging of all i-scream products will be; uk.org.iscream.<product>.<subpart>.* In the case of the central monitoring system server this will be; uk.org.iscream.cms.server.* The whole server has been changed to follow this structure, and tested to a smallish extent. Further changes in other parts of the CMS will follow.
Now does a cleanup of stale alerts left behind by a host after it shuts down. This is done by removing any alerts older than a FINAL Heartbeat alert.
Need to set these to be synchronized, otherwise two Threads could potentially call the getInstance() method at the same time - resulting in two constructions.
Now cleans up empty host directories on the alert pages.
Trying to explain what I'm doing better.
Sorted the seperator character out :)
Missed this in the last change.
Tidied the File handling, a bit more "proper" now.
Added support for deleting old alert files.
Now properly cleans up files, and fixed the filename extension.
Added functionality to the constructor to tidy up any existing alerts from any previous invocations of the server. Also changed the routine that dumps the data to rename an old file, rather than delete and recreate a new one.
Now dumps data in a "correct" format. Still needed is cleaning up, both on startup and after a given interval.
The whole server package structure has been changed. Old Package: uk.ac.ukc.iscream.* New Package: uk.org.iscream.*
Alert data is appended. This is not currently the best way to do it, as we have no way of "cleaning" up. This will be discussed and resolved later on.
The WebFeeder now dumps Alert messages, and can be turned on and off.
An extra check to make sure the packet is right...
This should work a bit better. More checking is done.
Added support for writing XMLPackets to disk.
Added a new part of the local client called the WebFeeder. This class consists of three parts; WebFeeder__Monitor: provides a feed of XMLPackets to the WebFeeder WebFeeder__Alerter: provides a feed of Alerts to the WebFeeder WebFeeder: a singleton class that will manage dumping of XMLPackets and Alerts This data will be written out in a textual format, although this secion has not been completed. The WebFeeder may also provide configuration information, if required.
